Dan Millman is an American author and speaker whose work centers on personal growth, mindful living, and human performance. He is best known for Way of the Peaceful Warrior and Sacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior; his books have been translated into dozens of languages and have influenced readers worldwide.
Before he became known as an author, Dan Millman was an elite gymnast, trampolinist, martial artist, coach, and teacher. At the University of California, Berkeley, he won the world trampoline title in London in 1964, added NCAA and national honors, and became one of Cal’s standout gymnasts. A severe leg injury in a 1967 motorcycle accident became a defining turning point. After extensive rehabilitation, he returned to help Berkeley win the 1968 NCAA team championship, then moved into coaching at Stanford and later teaching at Oberlin, while a parallel spiritual search slowly took shape as the Peaceful Warrior’s Way.
