When we encounter discomfort in mastering something, we often create self-defeating narratives: "This feels bad/awkward/embarrassing/frightening/silly. I'm probably not going to make it anyway, so why endure the pain?" Overcoming these negative beliefs requires questioning them, gathering new information that challenges them, and revising them into more supportive self-talk. Many brilliant people perform poorly in traditional educational settings yet excel when pursuing passions through their natural learning styles. To achieve mastery, you must discover how you learn best and follow that approach even if others claim you're "not doing it right." People learn primarily through doing, hearing, seeing, reading/writing, and reflecting - most have one or two preferred styles. Experiment to find what works best for you.
