Rainbow Rowell is an American novelist and comics writer known for contemporary romance and young adult fiction, including Eleanor & Park, Fangirl, and the Simon Snow trilogy. A #1 New York Times bestselling author, she has earned major YA recognition, with Eleanor & Park and Fangirl named among The New York Times’ best young adult books of 2013.
Rainbow Rowell grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, studied journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and began her professional life at the Omaha World-Herald, where she worked as a columnist and ad copywriter. That newsroom background shaped her fiction: sharp dialogue, close observation, and an instinct for the telling detail in ordinary Midwestern life. Her first major turn came when she moved beyond journalism and advertising to complete Attachments, the 2011 novel that introduced the witty, emotionally alert voice that would define her career.
