Biography & Author's Journey

J.K. Rowling, born Joanne Rowling on July 31, 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England, demonstrated a precocious passion for storytelling from early childhood. Raised in the English countryside, she wrote her first story, “Rabbit,” at the age of six and completed a novel by eleven. Rowling pursued her education at the University of Exeter, studying French and Classics, and later worked as a bilingual secretary and researcher at Amnesty International in London.
