Jojo Moyes is an English novelist and screenwriter best known for contemporary romance and drama, notably the international bestseller Me Before You. Her works have sold over fifty million copies, been translated into forty-six languages, and twice won the Romantic Novelists’ Association Award, significantly influencing modern romantic fiction.
Jojo Moyes, born Pauline Sara Jo Moyes in 1969 in Maidstone, England, was raised in London by parents she described as bohemian, giving her childhood an eccentric character. Before embarking on her literary journey, Moyes experienced an eclectic early career—typing statements in braille for the blind, working as a minicab controller, and writing brochures—all before earning degrees from Royal Holloway, University of London, and City University's renowned journalism program. Winning a bursary from The Independent, she began a decade-long tenure at the paper, progressing from reporter to Assistant News Editor and, later, Arts and Media Correspondent. Her overseas stint at the Sunday Morning Post in Hong Kong added further breadth to her journalistic experience.
