Anne Bogel is an American author and podcast host whose work centers on books, reading life, and thoughtful living. She created the Modern Mrs Darcy platform and hosts What Should I Read Next?, and is known for books including Reading People, I’d Rather Be Reading, and Don’t Overthink It.
Anne Bogel is an author, podcaster, and online reading tastemaker whose career grew out of a long attachment to books and a strong sense of place. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she has remained rooted there even as her readership expanded nationally. The decisive early turn in her career came around New Year’s in 2011, when a late-night conversation with her husband, Will Bogel, led her to start a blog; within weeks she had named it Modern Mrs Darcy and published her first posts. What began as, in her words, a “fun little project” steadily became the work of her adult life. She still lives in Louisville with Will, their four children, and their yellow lab, Daisy.
