Biography & Author's Journey
Lucy Score came to fiction through a mix of bookish upbringing, journalistic training, and professional frustration. Raised in a family where books were central, she was reading romance as a teenager and later studied journalism in college, only to decide that straight news reporting did not suit her. She worked in proofreading, local journalism, and marketing before using a layoff to write a novella. That first self-published effort sold only 35 copies, but two indie publishers encouraged her to expand it into Undercover Love, released in March 2015. A few months later, Pretend You’re Mine hit No. 1 in the Amazon Kindle Store the same week she was fired from her marketing job, effectively making her a full-time novelist.
