Julie Bogart is an American writer and homeschool educator best known for founding Brave Writer, a language-arts program for families, and for books including The Brave Learner and Raising Critical Thinkers. Her work focuses on writing, home education, and critical thinking, helping parents cultivate more engaging, literature-rich learning at home.
Julie Bogart grew up in Southern California and studied history at UCLA, graduating in 1983. Her early adult years included study in France, a summer in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and four years living in Morocco, experiences that broadened her interest in language, culture, and education. She later earned a master’s degree in theology from Xavier University in 2007 and taught there as an adjunct professor. Before she became widely known in home education, she built a professional writing life through ghostwriting, freelance work, book editing, senior editorial work for a quarterly industry publication, and a weekly column for United Press International.
