Danielle L. Jensen is a Calgary-based fantasy-romance novelist known for politically driven, romance-centered series including The Bridge Kingdom, Dark Shores, Malediction, and the Saga of the Unfated, which features A Fate Inked in Blood. Danielle L. Jensen’s career reflects a gradual but decisive move from practicality to imagination. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, she first completed a bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Calgary in 2003 and began her professional life outside publishing. Writing returned in stages: she has said that she loved stories as a child, wrote constantly, and won school writing contests, but did not originally plan to become a novelist. After a friend encouraged her to try writing a novel in 2006, the hobby deepened into something more serious, and by 2009 she had decided to return to university, later completing an English literature degree at Mount Royal University. The turning point came with Stolen Songbird, which she began in 2010 and revised heavily before receiving representation from agent Tamar Rydzinski in 2013; the novel appeared in 2014 and launched the Malediction books.
