Altruists approve of sacrifice in proportion to the loss suffered, not the gain created. Altruism fails to provide a genuine conception of good. This creates an infinite regression: your neighbor's good is whatever benefits his neighbor, and so on. The only meaning left is the act of self-sacrifice itself.
