This creates a "polite politician" effect where the AI prioritizes sounding right over being right, potentially hiding its actual reasoning process to please the human supervisor.
AI Debate is a scalable oversight strategy that leverages the "asymmetry of effort" between telling the truth and lying. In this setup, two AI systems argue opposing sides of a complex issue before a human judge.
