This arrangement served as a real-world laboratory for their existentialist beliefs, prioritizing total transparency over bourgeois illusions of fidelity.
The couple practiced radical honesty by stripping away traditional social expectations and committing to total transparency in their private lives. They aimed to prove that a relationship could exist without possession or the 'bourgeois illusions' of typical domestic life. By openly discussing their lives and other relationships, they sought to live out their philosophy of freedom without compromise, turning their personal connection into a lifelong experiment in existentialist ethics and intellectual partnership.
On April 15th, 1980, Jean-Paul Sartre’s funeral procession drew a massive crowd of fifty thousand people to the Boulevard du Montparnasse in Paris. The gathering included students, workers, and intellectuals who came to honor the philosopher’s legacy. Simone de Beauvoir, his lifelong partner, walked among the mourners visibly devastated. The event marked the end of an era for the Paris intellectuals, reflecting the profound impact Sartre’s ideas on freedom and existentialism had on the public consciousness.

I love the fact that I can get useful, condensed, information and ideas in a 8 - 15 minute podcast style audio. I'm not a general fan of podcasts because of all the fluff, but this cuts through all that.

I am finishing up my doctorate, and have to read a lot of unfamiliar material... With BeFreed, you simply enter a prompt, and the app finds source material for you and generates an audio podcast. I find the process in BeFreed to be more streamlined than NotebookLM.
