Katherine May is an English writer and memoirist whose work explores burnout, mental health, neurodiversity, nature, and seasonal living. She is best known for Wintering, Enchantment, and The Electricity of Every Living Thing. Wintering became an international bestseller and helped broaden her global readership.
Katherine May is a writer, podcaster, and speaker based in Whitstable, England, whose work brings together nature, spirituality, slow living, and neurodivergence. From an early age, she wrote poems seriously—by her own account, from about ten—encouraged by a primary-school teacher who recognized her ambition and by a grandmother who modeled an everyday reading life. After university, she trained through an on-the-job route as a schoolteacher. She later worked in educational and cultural settings, including Tate Britain, and in the 2010s led creative-writing teaching at Canterbury Christ Church University.
