Lucinda Riley was an Irish author of historical fiction and family-saga novels, best known for The Seven Sisters series and books such as The Orchid House. Her work blends romance, mystery, and multigenerational history, and has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide, with translations into dozens of languages.
Lucinda Riley’s career began far from the image of the globe-spanning novelist she later became. Born in 1965 in Drumbeg, Northern Ireland, she spent her first years there before moving to England, where ballet lessons, vocational schooling, and then study at the Italia Conti academy shaped her adolescence. A knee injury ended hopes of a professional dance career, and acting quickly took over; by her late teens she was appearing on screen, including in Auf Wiedersehen Pet. Another decisive turn followed when illness later identified as Epstein-Barr virus confined her to bed. During that period she drafted a longhand novel, and by twenty-five she had secured a three-book deal and was expecting her first child, Harry. ((https://lucindariley.co.uk/about-lucinda/))
