Lisa Damour

Lisa Damour is a clinical psychologist and author who focuses on adolescent development, parenting, and teen mental health. She is known for Untangled, Under Pressure, and The Emotional Lives of Teenagers, and is widely recognized as a New York Times bestselling writer whose work has shaped public conversations about raising and supporting adolescents.

Lisa Damour built her career at the intersection of clinical psychology, education, and public communication. After graduating with honors from Yale University, working at the Yale Child Study Center, and earning her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Michigan, she developed an approach shaped by both scholarship and close daily contact with adolescents and their families. She later helped found Laurel School’s Center for Research on Girls and has continued to maintain a clinical practice while advising institutions focused on child development and mental health.
