John Kotter is an American leadership and change-management scholar known for shaping modern thinking on organizational transformation. A longtime Harvard Business School professor, he wrote Leading Change and developed the influential eight-step change model; his work has been widely adopted by executives, consultants, and institutions worldwide.
John P. Kotter built his reputation by turning academic study into a practical language for organizational change. Educated at MIT and Harvard, he joined the Harvard Business School faculty in 1972 and later became the Konosuke Matsushita Professor of Leadership, Emeritus. That early academic base was a decisive turning point: instead of treating leadership as a vague personal trait, he studied power, management, and large-scale transformation as observable organizational problems. Over time, his work moved beyond the classroom into broader advisory and training settings, and he helped build Kotter, the firm that translated his research into consulting, development programs, and implementation tools. The result was a career defined less by managerial fashion than by repeated efforts to make leadership concrete and usable. ((https://www.kotterinc.com/team/john-kotter/))
