Jay Shetty is a British-Indian author, podcaster, and coach whose work centers on mindfulness, relationships, purpose, and emotional well-being. He is best known for the bestselling books Think Like a Monk and 8 Rules of Love, and for hosting On Purpose, a widely popular podcast that expanded his global audience.
Jay Shetty was born and raised in London to Indian parents, and his biography often begins with a contrast he has repeated across his work: a shy, introverted young man who was pushed into rethinking success after hearing a monk speak. While still in school, he spent vacations with monks in India, and after graduating in 2010 from Cass Business School, now Bayes Business School, with a first-class degree in Management Science, he chose a different route from the conventional corporate path. For the next three years, he lived as a Hindu monk in India and the United Kingdom, following a disciplined routine of study, simplicity, and long hours of meditation.
