Frances Frei is a Harvard Business School professor and leadership expert whose work focuses on trust, inclusion, organizational performance, and effective management. She is best known as coauthor of Unleashed and Move Fast & Fix Things, books that helped extend her influence from academia to executives, founders, and public-sector leaders.
Frances Frei built her career at the intersection of analytics and human behavior. Trained first in quantitative disciplines, she earned a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.Eng. from Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. in Operations and Information Management from the Wharton School before establishing herself at Harvard Business School. At HBS she became known not only as a professor of technology and operations management but also as a teacher and institution-builder, developing a widely popular course on business models that delight customers and helping launch the school’s FIELD curriculum. Over time, her work moved from the mechanics of process design toward a larger question: how leaders create the conditions in which people and organizations can thrive.
