Biography & Author's Journey

Denise Lee Yohn is an American brand leadership expert, author, speaker, and consultant whose work sits at the intersection of branding, culture, customer experience, and organizational performance. She studied psychology and political science at Northwestern University, an academic combination that aligns with her long-running interest in how people think, choose, and connect. Early in her career, she moved through both agency and client-side marketing roles, serving as a lead strategist on accounts such as Burger King and Land Rover and working in marketing and analysis for Jack in the Box and Spiegel. A major turning point came at Sony Electronics, where she led the company’s first brand office as vice president and general manager of brand and strategy. That experience helped crystallize the idea that brands are not just communications assets but management tools that should shape the whole business.
