Bruce Feiler is an American author and journalist who writes about family, faith, identity, and life transitions. His notable books include Walking the Bible, Council of Dads, and Life Is in the Transitions. A New York Times bestselling author, he has helped popularize narrative nonfiction that blends personal experience with cultural and spiritual inquiry.
Bruce Feiler grew up in Savannah, Georgia, and later became a Yale alumnus. His earliest books already showed the method that would define much of his career: immersive, firsthand reporting. Learning to Bow came from a year teaching in a small rural Japanese town, and other early books drew on Oxford and Cambridge, the circus, and Nashville. Rather than writing from a distance, Feiler repeatedly entered a world, lived inside it, and then shaped the experience into narrative nonfiction with a strong autobiographical thread.
