Brad Meltzer is an American author known for thriller novels, children’s nonfiction, and comics. His notable works include The Tenth Justice, The Inner Circle, and the Ordinary People Change the World “I Am” series. A New York Times bestselling writer, he has also written for DC Comics and hosted history-focused television programs.
Brad Meltzer was born in Brooklyn in 1970 and spent formative years in Sheepshead Bay before his father lost his job and the family moved to Miami, at one point squeezing into his grandmother’s one-bedroom apartment. That disruption became part of his formation. In high school, English teacher Sheila Spicer told him he could write and pushed him onto an honors track. He became the first in his immediate family to attend a four-year college, earned a history degree from the University of Michigan, then a law degree from Columbia, where professor Kellis Parker encouraged the novel-writing student behind the law-review résumé.
