4. Muda of Motion: Any bodily movement not directly adding value is unproductive. Walking, lifting heavy objects, or unnecessary handling of materials represents muda. Observing operators reveals that actual value-adding moments take only seconds, while the rest consists of non-value-adding motions.
5. Muda of Processing: Inadequate technology or design creates muda in processing work itself. Examples include unduly long machine approaches, unproductive press strikes, and deburring operations. Processing muda can often be eliminated through common sense, low-cost techniques like combining operations.
6. Muda of Waiting: Waiting muda occurs when operators' hands are idle due to line imbalances, lack of parts, or machine downtime. It's easily detected when operators are completely idle but harder to spot during machine processing.
