Nascido em Teerã, Irã, em 1989, Akbar é um aclamado poeta e romancista iraniano-americano cujo trabalho explora temas de identidade, fé, vício e pertencimento — elementos que informam profundamente a narrativa espiritual e introspectiva desta estreia na ficção literária.

Ele é o autor de duas celebradas coleções de poesia, Calling a Wolf a Wolf (2017) e Pilgrim Bell (2021), que foi eleito um dos melhores livros do ano pela Time, The Guardian e NPR. Akbar atua como Editor de Poesia da The Nation, um cargo anteriormente ocupado por Langston Hughes e William Butler Yeats, e fundou o Divedapper, uma plataforma de entrevistas sobre poesia.
