James Islington

Nascido: February 15, 1981 – Frankston, Victoria, Australia

James Islington is an Australian fantasy novelist known for intricate epic fantasy centered on prophecy, political intrigue, and moral ambiguity. He is best known for The Licanius Trilogy, beginning with The Shadow of What Was Lost, and for The Will of the Many, which expanded his audience and reinforced his standing in contemporary fantasy.

Biografia e Jornada do Autor

James Islington is an Australian fantasy novelist whose career grew out of a long private ambition rather than a conventional literary apprenticeship. Born and raised in southern Victoria, he has said little publicly about formal study beyond the fact that he moved into self-directed work soon after university. Much of his twenties was spent running a startup with a friend, a period he has described as intense and absorbing enough to leave little time for fiction. Yet the desire to write never disappeared: he loved creative writing as a child, entered fantasy seriously as a teenager through Raymond E. Feist and Robert Jordan, and later found his commitment rekindled by Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss. Around the age of thirty, he scaled back his business work, committed to a daily writing routine, and began building the book that would launch his career.
