Alex Michaelides

Nascido: September 04, 1977 – Nicosia, Nicosia District, Cyprus

Alex Michaelides is a Cypriot-British author and screenwriter known for psychological thrillers that blend suspense, trauma, and classical motifs. He rose to international prominence with The Silent Patient, a multimillion-copy bestseller translated widely, and followed it with The Maidens and The Fury, reinforcing his reputation for twist-driven contemporary crime fiction.

Biografia e Jornada do Autor

Alex Michaelides is a British-Cypriot novelist and screenwriter whose rise to prominence came through psychological suspense rather than a conventional online-writer path. Born in Cyprus in 1977, he grew up between Greek and English cultural influences, a dual inheritance that later shaped both the classical references and the emotional atmosphere of his fiction. After moving to the United Kingdom, he studied English literature at Trinity College, Cambridge, and then pursued screenwriting at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Before his breakthrough as a novelist, he worked in film and television and also spent time in a psychiatric setting, an experience that sharpened his interest in trauma, silence, obsession, and the hidden motives that drive human behavior. Those strands would become central to his fiction.
