The unexamined life is not worth living. If you aren't questioning your values, you aren't really living a human life.
Teach me Ancient Greek philosophy - Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Epictitus, Epicurus, and similar.

The roots of Western wisdom often trace back to Egyptian scholarship rather than starting solely with the Greeks. Historical accounts from Herodotus suggest that the Greeks adopted fundamental concepts, including geometry and the belief in an immortal soul, from Egypt. This indicates that the foundational 'operating system' of modern thought was heavily influenced by the intellectual traditions developed across the Mediterranean long before the rise of famous Greek thinkers.
Plato and Pythagoras spent significant portions of their lives immersed in Egyptian scholarship. Plato reportedly spent thirteen years in Heliopolis soaking up local knowledge, while Pythagoras spent over two decades studying mathematics with Egyptian priests. These extensive periods of study show that the figures often called the 'fathers' of philosophy were deeply influenced by the advanced education and scientific understanding present in ancient Egypt.
Herodotus, the famous historian, documented that the Greeks adopted many of their most significant intellectual pillars from the Egyptians. His writings highlight that everything from the history of geometry to complex spiritual beliefs about the soul originated in Egypt. This historical perspective shifts the narrative of Western philosophy, framing Greek thinkers as students of an older, more established Egyptian tradition that continues to influence how we think today.
