We have no intuitive mental tools for these fields, instead relying on analogies or "jerry-built mental contraptions" that combine other faculties.
Education isn't writing on a blank slate or allowing natural nobility to flower-it's a technology compensating for what human minds naturally struggle with. Children learn walking and talking effortlessly but require schooling for reading and mathematics because these skills emerged too recently for evolutionary adaptation. Effective education requires not just adding knowledge but "debugging" intuitive misconceptions: students must unlearn intuitive physics before mastering Newtonian physics, abandon intuitive biology to grasp modern biology, and overcome intuitive design thinking to understand evolution.
