The End of the Dream: Let It Be and Abbey Road

The Let It Be sessions began in January 1969 at Twickenham Studios under the working title "Get Back." The original concept, primarily Paul's idea, was to film the Beatles rehearsing new material and culminate with a live concert performance. Initial plans to record on an ocean liner were abandoned for the more practical studio setting, though tensions were already evident within the band. "In fact what happened was, when we got in there, it showed how the break-up of a group works," Paul reflected. "We didn't realise that we were actually breaking up as it was happening."
