John Bunyan (1628-1688) è stato un predicatore anticonformista inglese e autore di successo de Il pellegrinaggio del cristiano (The Pilgrim's Progress), la più duratura allegoria cristiana della letteratura inglese. Nato a Elstow, vicino a Bedford, Bunyan lavorò come calderaio prima di diventare un predicatore le cui intuizioni sulla lotta spirituale furono forgiate attraverso la propria conversione e dodici anni di prigionia a causa delle sue convinzioni religiose.
