Julie Holland

Julie Holland is an American psychiatrist and author whose work focuses on psychopharmacology, mental health, sexuality, and gender. She is known for Weekends at Bellevue, Moody Bitches, and Good Chemistry, which helped popularize discussion of MDMA-assisted therapy and women’s mental health for broad, nonclinical audiences.

Biografia e Percorso dell'Autore

Julie Holland built her public career at the intersection of psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and narrative nonfiction. Trained first at the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in the Biological Basis of Behavior, she earned her M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine in 1992 and completed her psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai. Early research on schizophrenia and auditory hallucinations, followed by a 1994 National Institute of Mental Health Outstanding Resident Award, gave her a strong scientific base before she became widely known as a writer. A defining turn came in 1996, when she opened a private practice and also began weekend work in Bellevue Hospital’s psychiatric emergency room. ((https://drholland.com/about.html))
