But victory brings a shocking revelation-Anandmayi reveals that the Chandravanshis have been waiting for their own Neelkanth, a foreign savior with a blue throat who would fight against the Suryavanshis. The Question of Questions

In Ayodhya, the Chandravanshi capital, Shiva's understanding of his mission undergoes a profound transformation. Walking through the chaotic but vibrant city, he encounters a starving beggar whose generosity crushes his self-righteousness, making him realize the Chandravanshis aren't evil, just different. Their society values freedom and individual expression over the order and collective welfare prioritized by the Meluhans. At Lord Ram's temple, Shiva meets a pandit who reveals that his true mission isn't to destroy evil but to answer the fundamental question: "What is evil?" The pandit explains that Suryavanshis and Chandravanshis represent necessary dualities in the universe, like the ancient Devas and Asuras. The Neelkanth must be an outsider to rise above these biases and see the larger truth. The pandit reveals himself as one of the Vasudevs, a tribe left by Lord Ram to help future Mahadevs and produce the next Vishnu when needed. He reassures Shiva that even Lord Rudra was misled before realizing the Asuras weren't evil-suggesting that Shiva's journey of discovery is following a pattern established by previous divine incarnations. This revelation transforms Shiva's understanding of his role. Rather than being a weapon to be wielded by one side against another, he must become a judge who determines the true nature of evil in this ancient conflict. The burden remains heavy, but Shiva now feels strong enough to bear it, having gained a more nuanced perspective on both societies. As Shiva leaves the temple, he finds Sati waiting, but their reunion is interrupted when they spot the masked Naga who's been following them. As Sati throws her knife at him, the Naga ties it to his wrist and charges toward them, with Shiva racing to protect his wife-a cliffhanger ending that sets up the sequel, "The Secret of the Nagas." The first book of the trilogy thus concludes with Shiva's transformation from tribal chief to divine judge well underway. He has already reformed Meluhan society by abolishing the vikarma system and has begun to question the simplistic narrative of good versus evil that initially drove his actions. His journey will continue as he seeks to understand the true nature of evil and his role in addressing it-not as the destroyer of one side but as the potential savior of all.
