Born in 1981 and a graduate of Troy University, Yarros draws from her experience as a military spouse—her husband served 22 years in the U.S. Army—to craft emotionally grounded stories set in high-stakes fantasy worlds.

Before achieving massive success with Fourth Wing in 2023, she published over 20 novels, including her acclaimed Flight & Glory military romance series.

Yarros is the recipient of the British Book Award for Book of the Year and has been featured on Good Morning America and at the Library of Congress National Book Festival. Onyx Storm shattered adult fiction sales records by selling 2.7 million copies in its first week, and the Empyrean series has been optioned for a television adaptation by Amazon MGM Studios.
