Michael Greger is an American physician, nutrition researcher, and public health advocate focused on evidence-based nutrition and plant-based diets. He is best known for founding NutritionFacts.org and writing the bestselling books How Not to Die, How Not to Diet, and How Not to Age, helping popularize nutrition science for broad audiences.
Michael Greger’s public career took shape at the crossroads of medicine, agriculture, and preventive health. A graduate of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and the Tufts University School of Medicine, he trained as a physician and later became a founding member and fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. The formative story he has most often attached to that career reaches back to childhood: seeing his grandmother, Frances Greger, sent home in a wheelchair with end-stage heart disease and then regain function through intensive diet and lifestyle change. That experience became both a personal turning point and, later, the emotional origin story behind NutritionFacts.org. ((https://nutritionfacts.org/about/?utm_source=openai))
