Lisa Mosconi is a neuroscientist and nutrition researcher focused on women’s brain health, Alzheimer’s prevention, and how diet and hormones affect cognition. She is known for Brain Food, The XX Brain, and The Menopause Brain, books that helped bring brain-focused nutrition and menopause neuroscience to a broad international readership.

Lisa Mosconi built her career at the intersection of brain science and women’s health, but its foundations were laid in Italy. Educated at the University of Florence, where she completed a five-year degree in experimental psychology and then a PhD in neuroscience and nuclear medicine in collaboration with New York University School of Medicine, she later expanded that training with certifications in nutrition and holistic health. A decisive personal turning point was her family history of dementia: Alzheimer’s affected her grandmother and her grandmother’s sisters, converting an early scientific fascination with the brain into a long-term research agenda centered on prevention, sex differences, and cognitive aging.
