Daniel Susskind is a British economist and writer whose work examines technology, labor markets, public policy, and economic growth. He is the author of A World Without Work and Growth: A Reckoning, and co-author of The Future of the Professions. His books have helped frame debates about automation and the future of work.
Daniel Susskind trained as an economist at Balliol College, Oxford, where he completed his BA, MPhil, and DPhil, and later studied at Harvard as a Kennedy Scholar. Before he became widely known as a writer, he worked inside the British government, serving in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, the Policy Unit in 10 Downing Street, and the Cabinet Office. That combination of academic training and policy experience shaped the character of his later work: analytically rigorous, but always directed toward public questions about work, expertise, and social change.
