    Lena : Bon, Miles, faut que je te raconte. L'autre jour, j'ai essayé de méditer, tu sais, le truc classique : assis, yeux fermés, on suit le souffle. Et bah, au bout de deux minutes, j'étais déjà en train de scanner mentalement le contenu de mon frigo pour le dîner. C’est un échec total, non ?

    Miles : Bah écoute, pas du tout. En fait, tu viens de décrire exactement ce que les experts appellent le "Mindfulness Plateau". C'est ce moment où ton ego devient super malin : il te laisse regarder ta respiration d'un côté, pendant qu'il planifie ta liste de courses de l'autre. C'est une sorte de calme plat, un peu somnolent, mais c'est pas de la méditation profonde.

    Lena : Ah ouais, quand même ! Je pensais juste que j'étais nulle. Mais alors, si on veut dépasser ce stade de "McMindfulness" — comme j'ai lu quelque part — on fait comment ? Parce que passer du frigo à l'éveil spirituel, ça ressemble à un sacré saut dans le vide.

    Miles : C'est clair. Le truc, c'est que la plupart des gens voient ça comme un outil antistress, alors qu'à la base, c'est une technologie radicale pour hacker notre perception de la réalité. Il y a tout un parcours, des 16 étapes de l'insight aux états d'absorption qu'on appelle les Jhanas. Et figure-toi que ça peut aller jusqu'à des sensations physiques de rapture assez dingues, genre décharges électriques ou frissons partout.
