    Para Karl Marx, la desigualdad es el motor del sistema capitalista y surge del conflicto inevitable entre quienes poseen los medios de producción y quienes solo tienen su fuerza de trabajo. En cambio, Émile Durkheim ve la sociedad como un organismo vivo donde la desigualdad es un síntoma de "anomia" o falta de regulación. Mientras Marx propone una revolución para cambiar el sistema, Durkheim sugiere reformas institucionales para restaurar la solidaridad y el orden social.

    Según la perspectiva marxista, la alienación ocurre cuando el trabajador pierde el control sobre su propia actividad y el fruto de su esfuerzo. En la economía digital, esto se manifiesta de cuatro formas: el trabajador no es dueño del producto final, no controla el proceso (guiado por algoritmos), compite con otros en lugar de colaborar y siente que su creatividad se convierte en una simple mercancía, lo que genera una sensación de vacío existencial.

    Max Weber introduce una visión multidimensional de la desigualdad que incluye la clase (economía), el estamento (prestigio social) y el partido (poder político). Weber argumenta que el prestigio o el estatus, como el que posee un influencer o un experto con conocimiento especializado, es una forma de poder tan real como el dinero. Además, advierte sobre la "jaula de hierro", donde la burocracia y la racionalidad extrema atrapan al individuo en una lógica de eficiencia que limita su libertad.

    La anomia es un concepto de Durkheim que describe un estado de desregulación social donde las normas no son claras o se perciben como injustas. En el contexto actual, cuando los salarios se estancan mientras la productividad sube, se produce una crisis de reglamentación que rompe la cohesión social.
