You must create your own pension-invest a portion of income in safe investments like money markets, mutual funds, and tax-free bonds. Having substantial liquid savings provides psychological security for freelancers, allowing you to weather business slowdowns. Try to save 10-40% of client payments, remembering that approximately 38% of gross income will go to taxes for those in top brackets.
