By the early fourteenth century, Iceland had been fully incorporated into the Norwegian kingdom. Economic and environmental changes followed - large-scale cod exports began around 1320, but a worsening climate brought a "little Ice Age" by 1350, forcing abandonment of crops and reducing livestock farming.
