Opioids should be used sparingly due to risks of constipation, transfer to breast milk, and potential for dependence.
The "husband stitch"-an extra suture supposedly added during perineal repair to tighten the vagina for male pleasure-appears to be largely mythical according to Dr. Gunter's 25+ years in OB/GYN. Some HPV types are oncogenic (cancer-causing). HPV 16 and 18 cause approximately 70% of cervical cancers, while types 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 68, 69, and 82 cause the remainder. Most HPV infections (90%) clear within two years, but persistent infections create cancer risk.
Condoms are the best protection for vaginal health. Multiple studies show women who consistently use condoms have healthier vaginal bacteria. This is especially important with multiple partners, as each additional partner increases risk to the ecosystem. Healthy vaginal bacteria provide the first defense against STIs-women with low levels of good bacteria are four times more likely to contract gonorrhea or HIV if exposed.
PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) functions like a vaccine, providing daily medication to prevent HIV infection with over 90% effectiveness when taken properly.
