The baby's intense absorption in the mother becomes the foundation for character development in our society. Even if research proves that this mother-domination severely retards development, our culture insists on maintaining this pattern that forms the basis for future compulsive relationships.
Girls don't passively accept their conditioning. Many resist maternal pressure to be neat and proper by becoming "tomboys"-refusing to keep their rooms tidy, joining male groups, climbing trees, swearing, and fighting to prove themselves twice as tough as the boys. This resistance can last for years until puberty delivers the final crushing blow.
The resistance isn't consistent-some girls enjoy the coddling that pretty little girls receive or learn it's advantageous to behave in the favored way. Those given presents of pretty things and flattered capitulate earliest to the pattern of rewards: first sweets and dolls' clothes, then dresses and shoes, eventually perms and makeup.

The cornerstone of Freudian theory of womanhood is the masculine conviction that a woman is a castrated man-a tautological argument neither demonstrable nor refutable. According to Freudian theory, the woman who resists her sexual role remains in an infantile state of penis envy, with "masculine" clitoral sexuality rather than "mature" vaginal response. This blueprint presents an artificial, unattainable ideal of a woman who exists only in relation to a man.

For over fifty years, methodical research has attempted to identify sex-based cognitive variations, yet the remarkable fact remains: the "sex of mind" is still to be demonstrated.

This objectification parallels art history's evolution. While Greek and Roman art showed no particular bias toward female forms, Renaissance art gradually elevated the female form to predominance. Women in paintings were increasingly disrobed yet kept their jewelry, transformed into "Venus" or "Flora." Poetry similarly celebrated women's beauty through metaphors of precious materials-gold hair, ivory brow, ruby lips-and consumable delicacies like cherries, cream, and honey.
The stereotype persists in modern culture, where the "mousy secretary" transforms into femininity by reddening her lips and donning frilly clothing. Women today aren't expected to wear a king's ransom, but must appear expensive, well-groomed, and never wear the same dress twice. The stereotype commands an army of servants-cosmetics, underwear, foundation garments, wigs, hairdressing-building her appearance layer by layer at considerable expense.
This eternal feminine is the Sexual Object sought by all, with no sex herself. Her value exists solely in the demand she excites. She need achieve nothing, for she is the reward of achievement. Her virtue is assumed from her loveliness and passivity. She is a doll-weeping, pouting, smiling, running, reclining-but always a doll, an idol formed of lines and masses signifying satisfied impotence. Her essential quality is castratedness: young, hairless, buoyant, and without a sexual organ. Her expression must show no hint of humor, curiosity or intelligence-only hauteur, submission, or idiot happiness.

Love's Perversion: Romance, Fantasy and Sadomasochism
Love exists as a divine concept in human imagination despite lacking real-world examples. Desire drives all movement and defines being in our constantly changing universe. While mystics say "God is love," they don't mean the love that's supposedly woman's destiny. Platonists believed women incapable of true love, as love requires equality-the inferior cannot comprehend what's worthy in the superior, while the superior demeans himself loving an inferior. True love forms between equals who recognize themselves in each other, forming the foundation for viable communities. Women, artificially differentiated from men, remain fascinating but ultimately incomprehensible to their partners, leading to isolation and antagonism.
The ideal of altruism-sacrificing oneself for others-is ultimately chimeric. Children recognize that maternal "self-sacrifice" often masks complex motivations and creates guilt rather than gratitude. Little girls eventually recapitulate this pattern, expiating primal guilt by "making their men happy." This confusion of altruism with love perverts relationships, turning them into emotional commerce where women must always be creditors. Women sacrifice what they never possessed: a self. The cry of the deserted woman-"What have I done to deserve this?"-reveals the false emotional economy she followed.
Love is characterized as a temporary aberration from normal functioning-something one falls "in." Its symptoms mirror illness: sleeplessness, distraction, appetite loss, mood swings, and agitation. The obsessed person fixates completely on their love object, often knowing little about them but attributing all positive qualities regardless of reality. Expectations form that no human could fulfill.
Romance remains a powerful fantasy that distorts women's actual behavior. The ideal romantic scenario involves ritualized interactions where women are passive recipients of male attention, with every sexual advance made with clothing as an attractive barrier. These fantasies shape real female behavior. Women dress to create impressions from romantic fiction, participate in ballroom dancing where men guide passive partners, and develop expectations about kisses as "the crown of love" rather than preliminaries to intimacy.
While women are trapped in romance fantasies, men create their own distorting myths. Male fantasy in literature creates two female archetypes: the Great Bitch and the Poison Maiden. The Great Bitch is the "deadly female"-tall, full-breasted, physically competent, and dangerous. Her fate is either metaphoric death through orgasm or actual death. The Poison Maiden is the virginal figure who experiences her first true orgasm with the hero, surrounded by threatening forces the hero must overcome. In both cases, the male fantasy requires conquest rather than cohabitation-"each man kills the thing he loves" to preserve his status as great lover.

In our culture, loveless marriage is unthinkable. We assume unmarried people somehow missed their chance, while all married couples must be in love. The nuclear family-father as provider, mother as nurturer, and their children-seems natural and divinely ordained, modeled after biblical patterns. Yet this arrangement depends entirely on women freely granting paternity rights to men, despite paternity being unprovable except negatively.
The modern nuclear family is actually "possibly the shortest-lived familial system ever developed," replacing the traditional stem family where multiple generations lived together under the eldest male's authority. The stem family distributed household responsibilities among women of different ages and statuses, preventing the isolation and intense confrontation of modern marriages. Children benefited from multiple caretakers and gradual integration into responsibilities. Today's "small, self-contained, self-centred and short-lived" nuclear family has children living primarily at school, fathers at work, and mothers functioning as "the dead heart of the family," managing consumer goods in an isolated domestic sphere.
The sterilized parent becomes the ultimate domestic animal, forever bound to their children and immobilized in predictable patterns. Men often fear this domesticity, expressing anxiety about marriage as something that "ties you down" or leaves you "chained down for the rest of your life." This reveals the patriarchal family's function in capitalism-immobilizing workers, making them vulnerable to employers, and creating controllable consumption patterns.
The marriage contract falsely promises security, especially to women who are encouraged to rely on an inherently impermanent arrangement. A housewife becomes an unpaid worker trading labor for the illusion of permanent employment, yet wives can be "laid off" without savings or marketable skills. Women's search for security stems from fear and anxiety, leading them to limit their husbands' risks and opportunities.
True freedom comes from embracing insecurity. Women would be better off rejecting their role in the pattern that makes married men "docile and reliable workers." Relationships without formal bonds can be more rewarding when women maintain self-reliance rather than surrendering to possessive love that breaks down personal poise.

Women have always rebelled against societal roles. The most notorious were witches-women who withdrew from normal society to live independently, using herbal knowledge to survive while sometimes engaging in mysticism. They should use cosmetics for fun rather than disguise, make their own perfumes, and find hairstyles that suit them naturally rather than following fashion.

Like recreational drug users who control their intake based on desired effects rather than dependency, women should cook meals they want to prepare when they feel like it, not according to rigid timetables. The "ideology of routine" creates vicious circles where "work makes more work." Regular periods of "freedom" remain contained within these circles, making compromise ineffective. Only complete rupture of these patterns can create true liberation.
Women must accept risk and possibility of error when rejecting masculine-feminine polarity. As Mary Wollstonecraft wrote, "Independence I have long considered the grand blessing of life, the basis of every virtue." Abandoning slavery means giving up the illusion of security. Liberation requires women to risk being labeled outcasts, eccentrics, and perverts by the powers-that-be, but at least modern vocal women "are no longer burnt" for their defiance.
Women's liberation requires humanizing male sexuality rather than mocking it, bringing "the cunt into its own" and relieving men of sole responsibility for sex. Women should genuinely reject violence by refusing to reward victors in violent confrontations and withdrawing their attention from male competition.
Despite evidence that women's raw intellectual material is not inferior to men's, the widespread belief in fundamental mental differences between sexes persists at all levels of society. This conviction becomes both motive for behavior and continuing cause of the phenomenon itself, resistant to rational challenge.
If we are to escape the treadmill of sexual fantasy and obsessiveness, we must reinstate our libido in its rightful function. Women's suffering stems not from failure to grow into "mature womanhood" but from striving against what prevents them from living with their own powers. From birth, women have been subjected to pressure to "return to the womb"-a path that leads only to death. The same pressures binding women's desires are those that will destroy the world through male competitiveness and aggression in the "inhuman sphere of computer-run institutions." Women must rescue men from their own polarization, though the struggle will be long and painful.
