Neil Postman (1931–2003) foi o coautor de Teaching as a Subversive Activity e um pioneiro educador americano, teórico da mídia e crítico cultural. O livro, escrito em parceria com Charles Weingartner em 1969, é uma crítica radical à educação tradicional que pedia a abolição de testes e livros didáticos em favor da aprendizagem baseada na investigação.
