Yaa Gyasi é a autora ganense-americana de O Caminho de Casa (Homegoing), um romance de ficção literária premiado que explora raça, escravidão e trauma geracional através da diáspora africana. Nascida em Gana em 1989 e criada no Alabama, Gyasi publicou O Caminho de Casa aos 26 anos — um romance histórico abrangente que atravessa três continentes e oito gerações.

Sua exploração de linhagem e colonialismo foi inspirada por uma visita em 2009 ao Castelo de Cape Coast, um forte de escravos que transformou sua compreensão sobre o tráfico transatlântico de escravos e a cumplicidade africana na escravidão. Gyasi obteve seu MFA pela Iowa Writers' Workshop.
