
Jason Selk is a performance coach and author who focuses on mental toughness, leadership, and high performance in sports and business. He is best known for 10-Minute Toughness and Executive Toughness, with his writing shaped by his work as Director of Mental Training for the St. Louis Cardinals and other elite organizations.
Jason Selk built his career at the intersection of psychology, coaching, and performance. Raised in a family oriented toward helping others, he has said that service shaped his early outlook and later professional mission. He studied psychology at the University of Missouri, coached gymnastics, and pursued graduate work in St. Louis, where his attention turned to the practical problem that would define his career: how to give performers a concrete mental training plan rather than vague encouragement. That search led to doctoral work and, eventually, to a major break in 2006, when the St. Louis Cardinals hired him as their first director of mental training. The Cardinals won World Series titles in 2006 and 2011 during his tenure, and that success established him as a specialist who could translate sport psychology into measurable results.
