Stop waiting for clarity and start building it. Learn how to overcome FOBO, manage ADHD decision paralysis, and move past the fear of better options through action.

Clarity is not something you find—it is something you build through engagement. Passion follows engagement, not the other way around.
A lesson on overcoming the 'fear of choosing the wrong path' when trying to narrow down multiple interests. Focus on reframing passion not as a destination to find, but as a direction to build, including strategies to mitigate the feeling of 'wasted time' while exploring.

FOBO, or the Fear of Better Options, is the paralyzing sensation of wanting to keep all doors open to avoid making the wrong choice. While it feels strategic to maintain flexibility, staying in the 'hallway' of indecision is often the most boring and stagnant place to be. This fear leads to structural overload, where having too many choices actually prevents freedom rather than creating it, ultimately freezing your ability to move forward.
For those with ADHD, decision making is complicated by a smaller mental scratchpad, or working memory. While a neurotypical brain might juggle five to seven items, an ADHD brain often only holds two or three. When faced with dozens of career paths or options, the system suffers a structural overload and crashes. Understanding this neurodivergent hurdle helps reframe indecision as a cognitive challenge rather than a personal character flaw or lack of willpower.
The Passion Myth suggests that knowing exactly what you want is the ultimate metric of success, making people feel like they are 'buffering' if they haven't found their path by their twenties or thirties. This culture of perfectionism creates anxiety when trying to solve clarity problems with information-seeking strategies. Instead of waiting for a spark of passion to strike, the podcast suggests that clarity is built through action rather than endless comparison of options.
