Explore the Soma vision of being the church in everyday life. Learn how Gospel Saturation and Missional Communities bring the gospel to neighborhoods and offices.

It’s a shift from seeing church as an event you attend to seeing it as a body of people who are filled with God's presence and sent out for His purposes. It’s about taking the church from a building to the everyday stuff of life.
Soma communities, Saturate the world, do a church

The Soma vision represents a fundamental shift from viewing church as a weekly event to seeing it as a body of people sent out for God's purposes. Derived from the Greek word for 'body,' Soma emphasizes that believers are filled with God's presence every day. Instead of just attending a building, the vision encourages people to be the church in their cubicles, coffee shops, and neighborhoods, making Jesus known in every aspect of daily life.
Gospel Saturation is a tactical target focused on ensuring the gospel is present throughout an entire city rather than just within one large building. The goal is to establish one Missional Community for every thousand people. This approach aims to move beyond a single weekly sermon, creating a level of presence where the gospel is lived out and experienced by people in their own local environments and social circles.
A Missional Community focuses on moving away from being a face in a massive crowd to being part of a smaller, tighter community where individuals are truly known and loved. While traditional services often wait for people to visit 'church turf,' a Missional Community equips believers to be the church where they already are. This includes being a spiritual presence at the office, in the neighborhood, or even on the sidelines of a soccer game.
The Greek word 'Soma' literally translates to 'body,' which is central to the podcast's discussion on the nature of the church. It highlights the transition from seeing church as a specific building with a steeple to seeing it as a living body of people. This biblical community acts as the way Jesus makes Himself known in everyday life, serving as His physical presence in the world through their daily interactions and relationships.
