Explore the PoliMap Framework and move beyond the 1789 French Revolution seating chart. Learn why the Left vs. Right spectrum fails to explain modern politics.

The problem is that the single line flattens reality. It tries to cram your views on the economy and your views on personal freedom onto the same axis, even though they’re totally different things.
Explain the difference between the different types.of political leaning such as left, right, liberal, libertarian, and any other types I've not mentioned. I want a full understanding of the political spectrum.

The concept of Left and Right politics originated during the French Revolution in 1789. In the National Assembly, supporters of the King sat on the right side of the room, while revolutionaries seeking change sat on the left. This 200-year-old seating chart remains the primary way we categorize political ideology today, despite its origins in a specific historical moment that predates modern issues like AI regulation.
The traditional spectrum is often confusing because it uses a single line to flatten complex realities. It attempts to cram distinct views on economic equality and personal freedom onto the same axis. This leads to contradictions where groups with opposite views on state power, such as communists and anarchists, are grouped together on the 'Left' simply because they share certain economic goals.
The PoliMap Framework moves beyond the single-axis model to better reflect modern political beliefs. By recognizing that views on the economy and personal freedom are separate things, it provides a more accurate map of ideology. This approach helps individuals who feel that the 'Left vs. Right' line does not explain their beliefs, offering a clearer way to navigate the complexities of 2026 and beyond.
