Jim Collins, born in 1958 in Aurora, Colorado, has established himself as one of the most influential thinkers in the fields of leadership, business management, and organizational sustainability. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Sciences from Stanford University in 1980, followed by an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1983. Early in his career, Collins worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company and later as a product manager at Hewlett-Packard, before returning to Stanford as a faculty member. His teaching excellence was recognized with the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1992, and he has since received honorary doctorates from the University of Colorado and the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management.
