Jesse Q. Sutanto is a USA Today bestselling author whose fiction spans cozy mystery, thriller, romance, and young adult novels. She is known for Dial A for Aunties and Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers. Her work has won the Edgar Award and the Comedy Women in Print prize, and Dial A for Aunties’ film rights were acquired by Netflix.
Jesse Q. Sutanto grew up moving between Jakarta and Singapore, with Oxford later becoming another formative home. She studied English literature at the University of California, Berkeley, then completed a master’s in creative writing at Oxford. That cross-regional upbringing, along with life inside a very large extended family, helped shape the family-centered, transnational sensibility of her fiction. She is now based in Jakarta with her husband and two daughters, and has also publicly emphasized her interest in women’s rights and diversity in publishing.
