John C. Maxwell, born in Garden City, Michigan, in 1947, grew up in a family steeped in ministry and leadership. His father, a dedicated pastor and academic leader, set the tone for Maxwell’s lifelong passion for developing others. Maxwell completed his bachelor’s degree at Circleville Bible College in 1969, before earning a Master of Divinity from Azusa Pacific University and a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. Initially, he followed his father’s path as an ordained minister in the Wesleyan Church, serving congregations in several states and quickly earning recognition for both his spiritual guidance and his organizational growth.
